  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 14 ounces caramels (unwrapped)
  • 5 ounces evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Grease a 9"x13" baking pan with non-stick spray.
  3. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition; mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add flour, baking soda, and salt; mix until combined.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips by hand or using low speed on your mixer.
  7. Spread half of the dough in the prepared pan and bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly set.
  8. Combine unwrapped caramels and evaporated milk in a microwave-safe bowl; heat until smooth.
  9. Mix peanut butter into the caramel mixture until blended.
  10. Pour the caramel mixture over the baked dough layer.
  11. Drop remaining dough over the caramel layer; it’s okay if some caramel is visible.
  12. Bake for an additional 17-20 minutes until golden brown.
