Ingredients
- 2 lb lean ground beef (90/10 or 93/7 fat content)
- 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 large yellow onion (finely diced)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 8 slices medium cheddar cheese
- 24 dinner rolls
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and butter a rimmed baking sheet.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil. Sauté diced onion until translucent, then add ground beef. Cook until browned, seasoning with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Remove excess fat from the skillet and stir in mayonnaise.
- Cut all dinner rolls in half and arrange the bottom halves on the prepared baking sheet. Layer with cheese slices followed by the beef mixture and additional shredded cheese.
- Top with the roll tops cut-side down. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
