  • 2 tablespoons milk (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for streusel topping)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for streusel topping)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (for streusel topping)
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt (for icing)
  • 23 tablespoons heavy cream (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a muffin pan with liners.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together 1 cup flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Incorporate cubes of unsalted butter until crumbly.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, vegetable oil, remaining sugar, vanilla extract, eggs, sour cream, milk, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until smooth.
  4. Gently fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. For the streusel topping: mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt; add melted butter until crumbly.
  6. Fill muffin liners two-thirds full with batter and sprinkle streusel on top.
  7. Bake for about 18 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
