Ingredients
- 360 g brewed black coffee (or 2 tsp instant coffee)
- 360 g all-purpose flour
- 300 g granulated sugar
- 150 g dark brown sugar
- 75 g unsweetened Dutch cocoa powder
- 3 large eggs
- 270 g sour cream
- 400 g butter (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch round baking pans.
- In one bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt. In another bowl, combine coffee, sugars, vegetable oil, sour cream, eggs, and vanilla.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet until just combined. Divide batter among prepared pans.
- Bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
- For the buttercream: Beat room temperature butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and mix in vanilla and cooled coffee until smooth.
