Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 1/2 – 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 packets RapidRise yeast (about 4 1/2 tsp)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • For the filling: 1/4 cup unsalted butter (room temperature), 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed), 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • For the icing: 4 oz cream cheese (room temperature), 1/4 cup unsalted butter (room temperature), 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by combining warm water and yeast; let it sit until frothy. Add melted butter and whisked egg.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour and salt before gradually adding it to the wet mixture until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth. Let rise in a greased bowl for about 45 minutes or until doubled in size.
  4. While rising, prepare the cinnamon filling by mixing room temperature butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the filling evenly, roll tightly and cut into pieces.
  6. Place in a greased baking dish and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350°F for around 25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. While baking, prepare the cream cheese icing by mixing cream cheese and butter until smooth; add powdered sugar and vanilla.
  9. Allow rolls to cool slightly before icing.
