- 7 g instant yeast
- 20 g honey
- 400 g flour
- 1 egg
- 65 g butter (40 g + 25 g)
- 8 g salt
- 50 g fine semolina
- 450 g steak
- Spices (cayenne powder, onion powder, garlic powder)
- 80 g red onion
- 75 g red bell pepper
- Grated cheese (cheddar)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine lukewarm milk, instant yeast, and honey. Add flour, beaten egg, butter, and salt; mix until a rough dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10–12 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about one hour or until doubled in size.
- Deflate the risen dough gently and divide it into 16 equal pieces. Roll each piece into balls and flatten slightly.
- Stack two flattened pieces of dough on top of each other, press down gently with a rolling pin, dust with semolina, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium heat and bake the rolls until golden brown on both sides.
- For the filling: In another skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Cook steak pieces seasoned with salt and spices for about 2–3 minutes. Stir in red onion and bell pepper; cook until tender (another 2–3 minutes). Sprinkle cheese over the mixture to melt.
