- 3/4 tsp ground cumin
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric

- 1 tsp lime juice (or lemon juice)
- 1 green hot chili pepper (finely chopped)
- 1 Tbsp parsley (chopped or cilantro)
- 3 Tbsp oil (for frying; coconut recommended)
Instructions
- Slice the onions thinly using a sharp knife or mandoline.
- In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, nutritional yeast (if using), cumin, salt, turmeric, water, lime juice, chili pepper, and parsley. Whisk until smooth.
- Fold in the sliced onions until well-coated with the batter.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of the onion mixture into the hot oil and fry for about 2–4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels before serving.
