  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 large vidalia onion (diced)
  • 4 ounces sliced white mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon fresh chopped thyme leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons flour or cornstarch
  • 3 cups beef stock
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • kosher salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Chopped fresh parsley or chives

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, ground mustard, onion powder, pepper, and salt. Form into four oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and keep warm.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté diced onions until translucent, then add mushrooms and cook until softened.
  4. Stir in thyme leaves and flour; gradually add beef stock while scraping up browned bits from the pan.
  5. Return patties to the skillet, simmer in gravy for an additional 5-7 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or chives.
