  • 1.5 lbs beef flank steak (or chuck roast)
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • Optional: 1 tbsp cornstarch (for thickening)

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef thinly against the grain. Wash and cut broccoli into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, minced garlic, and grated ginger; mix well.
  3. Layer sliced beef in the slow cooker, pour the sauce over it, and add broccoli on top.
  4. Cover and cook on low for about 6 hours or high for about 3 hours until the beef is tender.
  5. For a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry and stir it in during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  6. Serve over rice and garnish with sesame seeds if desired.
