Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large mixer bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla.
  4. Gradually combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just mixed.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together sugar and cinnamon for rolling.
  6. Roll tablespoon-sized dough balls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture and place on the prepared cookie sheet spaced about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake cookies for 6-8 minutes until lightly golden around the edges. Allow to cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
