Ingredients
- 8–10 cups water
- 6 meaty smoked turkey necks (or smoked ham hocks)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped white onion
- 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
- 2 tbsp chicken bouillon powder
- Seasoning salt to taste
- 1 lb small to medium red potatoes (quartered)
- 2 lbs string beans (stemmed and halved crosswise)
- 1 tbsp ground black pepper
Instructions
- In a large stockpot over high heat, combine water and smoked turkey necks. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a low boil, cover and cook for about two hours.
- After two hours, add onion, garlic, chicken bouillon powder, and seasoning salt. Stir well and taste the broth.
- Add quartered potatoes and halved string beans. Cover again and continue cooking until both are tender—about 45 minutes.
- Remove turkey necks from the pot once cooked through; pull off meat from the bones after cooling slightly and return to the pot.
- Serve in bowls with broth and enjoy!
