Ingredients
- 1/4 oz active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 8 oz full-fat sour cream
- 2 large eggs
- 3 to 3½ cups bread flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
- 1½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- Purple, green, and gold sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by mixing it with warm water and sugar; let it foam for 5 minutes.
- In a saucepan, heat sour cream, butter, and sugar until melted; cool to body temperature.
- Combine the sour cream mixture with the yeast mixture and half of the flour in a stand mixer; mix briefly.
- Add remaining flour gradually while kneading at medium speed until a soft dough forms (about 10 minutes).
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for about an hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out dough into two rectangles; spread with softened butter and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar filling.
- Roll each rectangle tightly into logs; twist logs together to form a ring.
- Allow to rise again for 20–30 minutes before baking at 350°F for 25–35 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before glazing with powdered sugar icing and decorating with sprinkles.
